Hola

Anyone there? I this foro closed? I have just come back from holidays and when I clicked on this address I was sent to Old School Flamenco Foro.

What is going on?

Sean

In short:

Simon gave/sold the foro to Bob.
Bob was very strict. So strict that he banned a lot of us by just disagreeing with him [ including Ron and Ricardo]
Bob also decided to split the foro in foroflamenco and oldschoolflamenco because a lot of old school lovers wanted to be together and not be ridiculed by the modern lovers.

Then Simon showed up on his white horse in bright light and he spoke the legendary words:

"Ok, I'm bringing it back"

For more details go to flamenco-teacher.com and read the various [ very long ]topics on this subject.

Hi Sean,
You must have had a good long holiday. [:D]

It's a long story.

Basically the new management moved the Forum up to Park Avenue and re-opened with a new shop front with stainless steel frames and tinted windows and a canopy.

The problem was that a lot of the usual riff-raff members were not welcome unless they adhered to the strict dress code and observed the new, classy etiquette, otherwise they would bring down the neighbourhood and he would lose business from the other shops he owned on the block.

So we had to get it back and move it back to " Da Bwonx" [:D]

Go to the Flamenco-Teacher site and you can read the full story if you have a spare evening. [:D]

cheers,

Ron

Well, thank goodness. I suppose I might be considered old school since I am always harping on about the importance of cante, but I take exception to this kind of labelling and won't be joining Park Avenue.

I really don´t remember this forum being uncouth and unfriendly compared with many others.

Suerte a todos

Hello, friends! I am GLAD the foro is back. I just came back from Granada where I spent 2 months. I wish I could let the local members know I was there, but the foro was down. Oh well...

kovachian -> RE: Dead foro (Sep. 1 2008 4:34:13)

Welcome back Grisha!

Kate -> RE: Dead foro (Sep. 1 2008 4:34:33)

Ah Grisha, that is such a shame, and another excellent reason to keep this forum going. When the forum was down I suddenly realised that bar a few of the members I had no private emails to contact anyone.

I do hope you enjoyed Granada. Tell us what you did, did you take classes ? I have been away a lot this summer travelling otherwise I am sure we would have bumped into each other. Maybe we did in the street and never knew it. Most flamencos, if you asked would have known how to get hold of us.

For anyone else who is out this way and for some reason cant log n to the forum to send a private mail, just remember www.andalamusica.com or google 'Emilio Maya" and our contact details will come up.

Maybe next time then Grisha,

Kate

Totally caught me out.
I tried to log on at home one night and got diverted to the trad site and couldn't find out what had happened.
I've only just got back in on my office computer. I had thought Foro was gone forever. Like most, I didn't have individual e-mails details to make enquiries.
Good to be back.

papi_rf -> RE: Dead foro (Sep. 2 2008 11:13:52)

I'm glad to see the old foro in operation again.[:D]
