Do you really want to know things like this? Better to keep a romantic view of flamenco

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you in that story Sean, but actually I would rather know the truth. I don't want an over-romanticised view of what goes on.

Musicians of all genres can be a pretty mixed-up bunch and it would be surprising if flamenco escaped that.

Yeah Sean,
I agree with Ailsa.
Musicians are amongst the most talented and most insecure people I have ever met.
Money is definitely a big factor here as it does give you a different outlook on life when you're not sure where next week's rent or grocery bills is coming from, unlike those who receive a regular paycheck.
I think you've had a bad "local" experience with a group of friends and folk you would have expected more of.
But I don't think that would be necessarily true of folk in Sevilla or Jerez etc? (Although I'm definitely with you on the fact that musicians are generally unreliable characters compared to office workers etc! LOL!)

Anyway, no harm in some good old "down home" Delta Blues on a steel string!

cheers,

Ron
