JeJeJeJe....Olé la rubia de Hollywood!! I was listening to the background guitarists. Much Hollywood music for this type of scene was done by Sabicas and Mario Escudero at around the time (and it certainly sounds like them). I looked up the movie and found the music was by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco but could not find a guitar reference so I am guessing it was them.
Rita Hayworth's real name was Margarita Dolores Cansino. Her father, Antonio, owned the Paramont Ballroom many years ago, on then Brooklyn Ave. in East Los Angeles. Antonio was a flamenco dancer who taught her to dance flamenco.
My first guitar teacher in the early 1960s was Geronimo Villarino. He told me many years ago that he was the guitarist in the movie, The Loves of Carmen. He also appeared in many of Carmen Amaya's movies that were made in Hollywood. Here he is accompanying Jose Greco in a Hollywood movie.
Hollywood came to Spain to make the Spaghetti Westerns, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Magnificant Seven, High Sierra. The Hollywood stars would often come to Granada where they discovered flamenco. I think El Niño has a photo of Rita Hayworth in his Peña. Next time you watch one these movies check out the landscape of Almería and have a good close look at those injuns [;)]
