Bogdan1980 -> Paco Cepero De Pura Cepa (Apr. 13 2008 18:51:44)

Does anyone know how or where to get this Buleria?
Seams like that's what I've been looking for, very clear compas, very exemplary of Bulerias.
Will trade anything for it. (meaning other transcriptions)

You mean like your first born child or a power of attorney!!
This transcription is easily available in the Alain Faucher book "aires de jerez" which includes 6 transcriptions by Paco Cepero including de pura cepa
....and it only costs 33 euros. (not much more than a guitar lesson)

Go to www.affedis.com

or click here

Child is not a problem, I'll give it away and pay you for taking it [:D].

Power of attorney - no.

Thanks for the pointer.

I haven't started working on Bulerias yet, but I have always thought I would give this bulerias a try when I was ready. I tried my usual sources, but couldn't find it. I did find the book with several transcriptions in it. Here's the link if you're interested:

Thanks, I haven't checked yet, I wonder if the prices are better than on Faucher's site.

I gotta say $50 bucks a book is not cheap.

I hear ya. The Faucher website is selling the book for 33E w/ 10E shipping, so basically 43Euros. That's $67 USD. The shipping on the website I linked is kinda weird, but the best I can tell shipping for that book would be about $8. So, it's about $50, roughly $17 cheaper than Alain's website.

Thats true. Its alot for a book. Another way to look at it is less than $10 bucks per transcription which is very good value.
I used to think teaching videos were very expensive at over $100 until i realised just how many guitar lessons you got for that and how much material was taught. Its a lot to lay out at once but you have material for many months.

John O. -> RE: Paco Cepero De Pura Cepa (Apr. 16 2008 8:57:16)

I dunno - at the moment $50 is about €31. The person who did it sat down with the whole CD, got it all down, made ledgible notation, got it printed, sent it to music stores, updates a web site, royalties, taxes, bookkeeping...

I don't know how much in the end is really earned per piece sold, but if you add up how many hours you have to work to get €31 and compare it to the hours needed to transcribe a whole CD it's probably not bad.

Bogdan1980 -> RE: Paco Cepero De Pura Cepa (Apr. 16 2008 13:10:12)

No question, a lot of work went into it.
But you have to stay competetive, and considering that many transcription books are within $30 in US (especially classical guitar), 50-60 bucks is somewhat expensive. Ultimately you're not meeting your margins by selling one book.

Pimientito -> RE: Paco Cepero De Pura Cepa (Apr. 17 2008 8:38:35)

Yes but there must be 20 times more classical guitar transcriptions sold than flamenco transcripitions. Its still a niche market and its only quite recently you can even get books and CDs on flamenco. When I started, the only stuff available was the mel bay flamenco method, the (he must not be named on this forum) method and individual tabs by Alain faucher.

I agree with John, the books initially seem expensive, but to pay a teacher to tab even one transcription would cost a lot more.

Ohhhhh that's who you meant:
Juan Martin

henrym3483 -> RE: Paco Cepero De Pura Cepa (Apr. 17 2008 16:07:33)

Man quality over quantity, then it depends if you can handle the quality of the material, im still wokring my way through juans books because they have some good basic falsetas. though his buleria compostitions i find lack a bit of ommph compared to paco, quique or moraito.

Bogdan1980 -> RE: Paco Cepero De Pura Cepa (Apr. 17 2008 16:27:13)

I don't like the bulerias much in the book, but to say that he doesn't have anything valuable would be overstatement.

Oh no, now I'm gonna be banished from the foro.

Francisco -> RE: Paco Cepero De Pura Cepa (Apr. 17 2008 20:54:54)

I like Juan's Bulerias De Gastor. But yea, Moraito's buleria is the shiz! It's really a toss up b/t Moraito & Cepero's. But, to be honest, I'll probably start w/ G. Graf-Martinez' bulerias, if I can ever get through some of this Habichuela material I have been working on. So much to do, so little time.
