hi all,
i am from wales uk but i am living in andalusia and have played guitar since i was five, about 4 months ago i discoverd flamenco, i have been learning with the aid of a dvd by aaron gilmartin and can play a fair bit of it and seem to be doing ok. ive been using a classical guitar with flamenco strings on and a variax nylon, but as i am getting a bit better i want to buy a nice flamenco, something bright and attacky, i have around £500 to spend, this has probably been asked many times and i am sorry to add to it but, any suggestions ? i have been looking at alhambra but is there better for my money? if i have some models recomended i can try them then, save my misis and the shopkeeper hating me for spending all day in the shop lol
cheers in advance
lee

Try sending an email to Stephen Hill in La Herradura, maybe he knows of something for sale?

But that's the joy of buying a guitar! I recently spent a happy few hours in the Bernal shop in Jerez playing loads of different models. They were really helpful, didn't mind getting out yet another guitar for me to try.

So judging by your Foro name, do you by any chance live in Nerja? You know, just a wild guess!! Only asking because I'm spending a week there at the end of April studying guitar with Jingle.

thanks escribano I have got in touch nice one, ailsa this is so mad, I met a guy called Marco in el Molino that give me jingles number, I haven’t called yet, wanted to get my technique a bit better hence the purchase, yeh I am surprisingly living in nerja lol :) I am here for at least 11 months, then I maybe off to Costa de la luz, there’s not a lot a quality waves in the med, but nerja is something special, it reminds of a tropical tenby, so maybe I will stay forever, I am playing in a 14 piece band lol yes 14, 7 mandolins, three guitars, a percussionist, and a contr bajo, and possibly others I aint met yet lol. Not flamenco but a great sound, where abouts you from?

A sad flamenco desert 30 miles west of London! But making trips to Andalucia as often as possible. I'm in Nerja for a week from 25th April - if your band is playing let me know and I'll try to catch you!

Jingle should also be able to get you a Bernal, which I rate highly in your price range. I have one, so give him a call. He and Stephen Hill know each other well.

Wicked, thanks escribano, I am really looking forward to playing one, soooooooooooo sick of my classicals big boomy sound! I can see that one being relegated to my beach guitar or a cricket bat :)
Ailsa, we practise on Wednesdays, around 10 pm in the townhall ish place by the church near the balcon, if you are about stick your head in, they will probably ask you to join [:)] you will hear the sound, but bear in mind this is a Spanish 10pm it could vary lol, bring your git if you like
