Hi Fellow Flamencophiles
I am a newbie to this site, and am pleased to have stumbled accross what appears to be a community of similarly-obssessed people.

I have been playing for several years now, battling with self-teaching, and classify myself as an experienced beginner.

I am interested in following threads about the Juan Martin and Graf-Martinez guides. I have several books, CDs and DVDs from both teachers. I am not interested in any discussion about who is best, but I want to follow and engage in constructive discussions about these and any other guides. My question is, is one particular place where these threads might be found, or will the threads be scatttered throughout the discussion board?

Looking forward to many happy discussions!

definitely scattered. alot. big time. like chronic scatterosis.

the search function is usually helpful, don't be afraid to ask a wuestion though. most of us won't grimace or snarl too much. lol jk

welcome!

People don't go into great detail about specific methods such as Graf-Martinez, but he has created a respected method which is a good starting point for study of flamenco. Most discussion about Juan Martin is critical of him. Many do not consider him to be flamenco or even a good guitarist.

If you are interested in specific techniques, palos, performers, etc. you will find a lot of discussion on a variety of topics. There are also links to videos (that would be hard to find) on YouTube almost daily.

I have Graf-Martinez I and II and have found the Oscar Herrero series Paso a Paso to be a great addition in my study of flamenco. Herrero is an award winning flamenco guitarist. There are methods by other advanced flamenco guitarists which can be found here: Flamenco World

There are descriptions of different teaching methods as well as sample videos.

Hi rugboots, I have all the method books mentioned and my personal favorite are Dennis Koster's 2 books. Check it out and thank me later.

Peace and good luck.
