Thanks Jen! The full explanation for that is going to have to wait a couple of weeks!! All will be revealed.

In the meantime this is what every woman should do on her 52nd birthday! Put some feathers and sequins on and dance about in public. [:D][:D][:D] I used to play a lot of Brazilian samba and went to Rio to learn and play in carnival. Samba is not only energising music, it's a great community activity, and I think very therapeutic too! I was playing today with a community band called Sambuka, and as you can get away with anything on your birthday decided to have a dance too.

And here's a little youtube vid - I know it looks like I'm a fraction of a beat out, but that's something to do with the low quality vid. I can dance in time honest! And if not, you can blame my age [;)][:D][:D][:D]

Stu -> RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY AILSA! (Apr. 2 2008 9:49:17)

Hey estevan, book is "a way of life" by don e pohren.

Ailsa -> RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY AILSA! (Apr. 2 2008 10:17:33)

Yeah it's a great read, and full of useful info. The one aspect I didn't like is that it sort of suggests that 'real flamenco' no longer exists, because our way of living has changed. I understand what he's saying, but with something as dynamic as flamenco there are bound to be changes, but that doesn't make what happens now any less 'real', just different.

Stu -> RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY AILSA! (Apr. 2 2008 15:57:15)

Hey Ailsa I agree,
He did make several references to big city professional players and how at that level it becomes commercial and less "flamenco" as he sees it, which kind of made me feel a little disappointed if its true. but it also just made me want to do the pilgrimmage to Moron and locate this "real flamenco" thats slowly fading.

Anyways, it was a good read, thanks for the lend. I'll bring it on the 20th.

Stu
