NeZ -> Casa Montalvo Guitars (Feb. 26 2008 11:40:17)

Has anyone here played a Casa Montalvo Flamenco before?

According to the website they are all solid wood and made in Paracho, Mexico.

They're reasonably priced if they are decent quality.

I'm still undecided if I should buy a sub $1,500 guitar at all though or just stick with what I've got currently (a burguet 3M classical with a golpeador added) or possibly buy a Yamaha until I can afford a real handcrafted guitar from Anders or someone similar.

Those sure are some pretty looking things aren't they? I've never played one myself but considering they're sold in California and I'm in Indiana, I don't foresee a 'try before you buy' option anytime soon. If you happen to get a Montalvo, let us know what she sounds like!

Did you see the vids of that 8 year old kid? He's a little monster player.

Maybe you can wait until the US dollar (if you are in the USA) is stronger compared to the euro. The increase in the euro in the past six months has increased Anders' price by approximately $400 USD for US buyers!
