Hello!
Anyone knows where to get drawings for the Laud (if it's the right word) played by Juan Manuel Cañizares in the Paco de Lucia group Live ion Germany DVD? Here's a picture: http://www.flamenco-world.com/noticias/paco25052004.htm ... It seem like a big octave mandolin.
Also there's almost similiar on the cover of Pepe Habichuelas Habichuela en rama-Cd played by José Miguel Carmona. On the leaflet it says it is mandola.
I'm comissioned to build one, so I would appreciate any kind of information about building these or where to find the drawings. Are they built like a guitar or like a Octave mandolin/Irish bouzouki when it comes to joining neck and the sides. And what about the arch on the top and the neck angle. Also the scale and the tuning? I bet the bracing is X-bracing, coz the body is so huge.
There's a lot of question marks and it would be easist to build if I got a drawing in my hands.
