Hi, I was clearing out some old VHS tapes and found a BBC2 "arena" programme about Flamenco and Andalucia from 1988.
At the start, this old Triana guy, sings (in the street to the camera) a Martinete..
"It was a stormy night, I couldn't sleep, I dreamt you were with somebody else, I thought I'd lose my mind".
This is almost exactly the same words in the Fandangos from Saura's "Flamenco" movie.
(I guess the old and truly important subject matters are always the best IMO...[;)])
cheers,
Ron

I lent my copy of the Arena programme and haven't got it back. I can't remember what it was called. Any ideas? Travels through Andalucia or something. Don't suppose you still have the video - would love a copy and would pay for it.

This looks to me like they're having a contest to see who can come up with the cheesiest lyrics of all time.

Its right enough according to the accompnying booklet the first verse goes:
I couldn't it was a stormy night I wanted to sleep but I couldn't I dreamt you were with someone else and I even bit my pillow and almost lost my mind
