MistaMishto -> Miguel Rodriguez, 1954, Cordoba (Feb. 2 2008 8:48:36)

I inherited this guitar off my grandad. Have been trying to find out more about it and i intend to take it to the Spanish guitar centre in Leicester square if it is still there, i dont know? My Grandad purchased it from Felix Manzanero's workshop in Madrid in 1968, not to be confused with the date inside the guiatr, which is 1954. I know the pictures aren't great, but on the back there is a repaired knock, and like i have noticed in other threads, talk of a domed soundboard. When i asked at a shop they told me that domed soundboads, by the bridge would make it go out of tune often, generally make it sound wacker, but it doesn't do any of those. I would really appreciate some feedback, like would i need to get this insured etc?

Cheers

Dome, schmome - how does it _sound?_ That's the only thing that matters.

It's a Rodriguez.
One of the finest makers from Cordoba and very highly valued.
The golpeadores don't look original.
£7k depending on condition, action and general playability.

The headstock design is a bit strange. Take it to Pablo Requena in lewes for his advice.

Good luck should you decide to sell.

Jim.

Today I could see the pictures. An I agree on Jims comments. Manolo Franco has played a Rodriguez cedar top for many years. I cant find my book on andalucian constructors right now. Its in some cardboard case for 6 month now (moving[:-]) But Rodriguez is considered a top maker, mostly famous for his classicals but also for making great flamencos

The guitar looks great on the photos and it seems like important things like neckangle is still where it should be. Its of course very difficult to judge from a photo, and I´m not the one to say if its a real Rodriguez, but I think there´s a good chance.

yeah abou the headstock and stem, it has a really nice feel, like slightly scuffed in comparison to my contreras, but it has just a really suitable, perfect feel. Thanks again

it seems like my previous post didn't make it, shame, just wanted to say thanks for your help. I never really had any qualms with it's authenticity as it was my grandpapas. I will take it to pablo in lewes, and ask him about several concerns of mine, which appear to be rectifying themselvs, like the dome has reduced. Thanks again, gracias tuke
