All round good egg and snappy dresser...this is possibly the only photographic evidence that Stephen owns a tie..the neighbours are still looking for the missing curtains.

[:D][:D][:D] That's cruel!! Though possibly true....

Photos are great Peter. It looks like a really satisfying thing to do. I can see you could really immerse yourself in doing something like this. So many of us have lost our abilities to make things with our own hands. Sadly my skills at working with wood are zero...... [:(][:(]

TANúñez -> RE: Photo Essays (Feb. 11 2008 7:16:50)

Peter those are great photos and the guitar looks wonderful! Congratulations. Will you be building others? Thank you for taking the time to post.

HemeolaMan -> RE: Photo Essays (Feb. 12 2008 15:25:52)

I really enjoyed that =)

stephen hill -> RE: Photo Essays (Feb. 12 2008 22:20:38)

yes we got pretty wined and dined that night, after a month in the mountains with mad cats and dogs, (and students) if you look close you might find a bit of egg on my tie, is that what you meant!!
A great month, adventure , and I am proud you take the time Peter to put your photos up on the foro.!

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Photo Essays (Feb. 12 2008 22:45:54)

Great photos. Looks like you made yourself a very nice guitar.

A question:
What is the "thing" in between braces number 2 and 3 ? Whats its purpose? and who told you to put it there (The man with the tie?????[:D])

This is called the 'refuerzo secreto'. [:D]

el ted -> RE: Photo Essays (Feb. 13 2008 1:35:58)

What an excellent thread this has turned out to be. I can't put a shelf up, never mind make a guitar.

stephen hill -> RE: Photo Essays (Feb. 13 2008 9:35:22)

ahhhh, anders , there are no secrets in guitar building.... well, in my humble experience this little bar cuts out some of the hum in the fsharp /g area. seems to improve the response. as you know, we are always experimenting a little!

stephen hill -> RE: Photo Essays (Feb. 13 2008 9:37:26)

if you ever have funny resonances (god forbid) then try putting a blob of bluetak in certain areas on the top... interesting..

not a photo essay but didn't want to open a new topic for this:
some bits of creation of a Ramírez guitar: Ramírez video

prd1 -> RE: Photo Essays (Nov. 3 2012 21:41:34)

I've re-surfaced this from a few years ago - it's from a time when we used to love to talk about building guitars without having to rip each-others heads off... guitar still sounds great - I believe the bootcampers will get to meet Stephen and have a chance to visit his new shop next year

Chill dudes!!

Ah yes, I remember those days. We need to get back to that.

Its extremely easy to write things like this when you´re not really involved....[;)]

But I agree. Before April 2008 this was a way better forum.

I suppose if it is so, there must be something that we can do about it to make it better?

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Photo Essays (Nov. 6 2012 18:17:59)

This I dont believe.........

TANúñez -> RE: Photo Essays (Nov. 6 2012 18:39:26)

I believe there is. We can agree to disagree and respect each others work.

...not really involved?

yes or what?

prd1 -> RE: Photo Essays (Nov. 6 2012 21:54:32)

I'm not too sure what "yes or what" means? but I guess that you are inferring that my 190 posts in 6 years means that I am not involved?

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Photo Essays (Nov. 7 2012 7:43:48)

I´m sorry... I´m not really sure what it means either. [;)] Forget it. I had no intentions of critizising you and it all end up in language problems.
I´m dead tired of discussing with native english speakers when english is just my 3rd language. Very often things go out of proportion.
Unfortunately this forum has very little space for that..... This is a 99,9% english speaking guiry flamenco forum. And that in all aspects.

wfrancis86 -> RE: Photo Essays (Nov. 7 2012 15:05:21)

No worries Anders, I've been living here in Colombia for the past couple of years (I'm a US citizen) and I run into this problem all the time. One big problem for me are people who look at me and decide, before they even talk to me, that I don't speak Spanish well enough to say anything worthwhile to me. I can't tell you how many conversations about food I've had. Hence, the three dreaded questions that I've answered a million times: What do you think of the food? How long have you been here (and when are you going back)? What do you think about the women? I identify with your frustration.

If I could speak to you in your native tongue (Danish?) I would, but for better or worse English is truly the international mode of communication at this time. I'm amazed at how good everyone's English is on this forum, its a big accomplishment to say you've learned another (a 3rd in your case) language. With that said, I don't really think expressing yourself in your native tongue is very easy either... for those that do it well (in English) we hand out Pulitzer prizes and the such. For those of us that aren't at that level I think a bit of restraint goes a very long ways.

prd1 -> RE: Photo Essays (Nov. 7 2012 18:49:59)

Your written English is excellent - you put your points across very eloquently.

I'm a Geordie - I have problems with folk not understanding my spoken English - you'd probably have more chance!

I'm Gaan'n hyem

TANúñez -> RE: Photo Essays (Nov. 7 2012 19:04:12)

I'm in America and I can barely even speak my own language [8D]
