Billyboy -> Disabling a computer, when away. (Apr. 7 2004 23:44:51)

I was supposed to be going to Granada this weekend, but having tried to get an easyjet flight, and was qouted £180, changed my mind and I'm having a couple of nights in that "centro del flamenco del norte" Blackpool, but my question is, my sis is coming to stay, and I wondered, how I can disable my computer from prying eyes by removing a computer part, that would be quik to put back when I get home, the ram strip maybe?
Cheers
Dave

If you take out the ram it wont start up so that is an idea. It might be easier to just disconnect the cords to your hard drive.

Dave, everyone uses the internet for things besides email. I'm sure your sis isn't going to rat you out.

Just bring your keyboard and mouse along with you [:D]

Just set up a username and password for yourself.

The quickest hardware way is to unplug the IDE ribbon or power connector to the hard disk.

Unless she is going to go in with a screwdriver, in which case, remove the hard drive as well (4 little screws).

Thanks guys, Ive plumped for the RAM strip, I wouldent be so paranoid but there is a lot of accountancy stuff on my computer, and she is very computer savvy, so unless she brings her own RAM strips [:D]
