Ron.M -> Language, Geography and Music (Jan. 16 2008 8:26:55)

I'm probably just babbling on here as usual, but does anybody see a connection between the "dry" sound and machine-gun like taka-taka-taka delivery of the Spanish Language and Flamenco?

On another theme, why does say, Swedish Rhapsody sound so quintessentially Scandanavian and not say, Spanish?

Conversely, why didn't Flamenco evolve in Sweden?

Or is this a "non-question" caused by being brought up with these associations?
Like saying "Wow..isn't it great that humans evolved on a planet where the conditions were just right for us?...[:D] "

Answers on the back of a $5 bill please, sent to .....

i'd say because Sweden wasn't (and couldn't,because of it's geographical position) influenced by arabian, african, gipsy and other music forms and melodies.

But sometimes anomalies happen, and there you have Yngwie J. Malmsteen.

There does seems something obvious about the interrelation of physical environment, culture, language, and music forms. If the brain adapts to what it hears, and if culture influences our perception then it does become one of those non questions, and the five dollar bill is non en route....
