John O. -> RE: "Flamenco Ages" Very nice project (Jan. 6 2008 6:13:50)

I think "flamenco ages" as a project sounds like a great idea. Something that could get rid of all the negativity blowing around the foro lately, a chance for everyone to get together and really build something. I started about ten years ago. I believe that since most people outside Spain on the average begin playing/dancing at around 16, the average "flamenco life" of a non-Spaniard is not 78, rather 62. This means, just like with cat and dog years, you have to add 16/62 = 0.26 to each year to get a "payo flamenco year". So my "flamenco age" is actually 31 X 1.26 equalling 39. Nominally, of course. Absolutely I'd have to be exact and add 20/62 = 0.32 to each year, making my personal "flamenco age" 41. What are your "flamenco ages"? Seriously though, let's get started by you letting us know what you really had in mind. Please excuse me, I'm bored, maybe a bit drunk [:D]
