I just wanted to wish everyone on the forum a Merry Christmas and happy New Year.

Our good news for 2008 is that Harold and myself along with Emilio Maya and Jaime 'El Parrón' have registered 'Andalamusica' as a record label through our flamenco association "Fabrica del Flamenco". We have several projects in the pipeline but one you'll all be interested in is Emilio's second album, recording began this week with a beautiful Bolera.

Thanks Koella, have a great time, and Emilio says so too even though he dont know you either [;)] though on saying that he has met quite a few forum members and even taught some and many here have joined his myspace friends and bought his first album, so thanks again to everyone here for their continued support. We'll be offering a discount on advanced orders for the next one for all foro members [:D]

Hi Romerito, yeah we always said we were a production facility and we would NEVER start our own label but after releasing several very sucessful independant records we realised that unless there were more small labels there were so many flamenco artists who would never get heard. Our Association is basically a charity, which is great as it means we can apply for funding but also means that we run a non profit label so the artist gets 100% after costs. No-ones going get rich but we're going to have a hell of a time.

Hey Koella I knew that [8D] it's a dirty job but some-one has to do it. I have never tried to hide the fact that we run a studio and promote flamenco and that I think Emilio is one of the best flamenco guitarists around. And I dont just promote Emilio, there's also Taller de Compás, Ana Calí, Fuensanta, La Repompa, Jaime, Victor ' El Charico', El Tirado, El Moreno, Pablo Maldonado, Estrella and Enrique Morente to name a few of the artists we have worked with. I tend to talk about Emilio here as you guys are all into guitar.

I do a good free service helping forum members when they come out here showing them around, taking them places they would never have got to. Ok well it may cost them a glass of rioja or two, but no-one else complains so be nice [sm=kiss.gif]

Kate, I'm so glad to hear Emilio and co. are doing great. Since the flamenco festival in my homeland I'm so horny for flamenco I don't even want to take time to write a promised review on the festival. Well yes, I'm ashamed of this, but what more would you want to know anyway[;)] festival made me even madder about the art.[:)]

Hey yeah great idea. Anyone here play the zambomba ?

My favourite Christmas record has to be Estrella Morente's Calle del Aire but have just found another must have with Paco and Camerón

'Nochebuena Gitana' con Camarón y Paco de Lucía, the link wouldnt work for some reason but there are sound clips on flamenco-world.com

Dont tell Harold but he's getting Camerón live in Paris DVD for Christmas [:D]

Congratulations on your new label, and hope you have a great juerga!

P.S. Do your artists post on I-Tunes, or is there a flamenco version? I really wish both younger and older artists had more exposure and less dependence on old-school labels. Maria Vargas and others have commented that other labels recorded them and rarely released or promoted the albums they made - kind of like the sorry saga of blues musicians in the U.S.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing your latest release! Feliz Navidad!

Yeah we have heard some sad and sorry tales, too many to list but more of what you are saying, no releases, no promotion, no payment, no publishing.

Internet is changing things though for independent artists and more small labels were registered in Spain in the last year than ever before as people take things into their own hands. Flamenco just doesn't generate enough sales to satisfy the hungry major record labels.

And Yeah to the Itunes, both Emilio Maya and Jaime Heredía (though his record is not one of our recordings) are available on most download sites thanks to CDbaby who does a great digital distribution deal where the artists get 98% ( or something like that) they are even paid when people just listen to the tracks, ok only a few cents but it adds up. These sites should all come up if you do a gooogle search.

Nice one Henry. I've already heard them doing the bolera live a few times now and it gives me goose bumps. They have a pretty impressive siguiriya as well. Maya was great playing with the Juan Andrés Maya company in their christmas show, she held her own in the Maya family [:)]
