I am just wondering what are your favourite flamenco YouTube posts ever? Including ones that haunt you in a way that is more than just crazy technique.

The one that seems to haunt me the most and I can picture in my mind very easily is Diego De Moron that was explored before in a previous posts.

I am curious what else is out there!

Tomatito's bulerias from 1980 or so, has long been and still is my favorite video on YouTube!

That was cool, I haven't seen that one yet as I am a noob. I assume those are his original falsetas which I here all over the place now?

Boy, we all get old, that's what I am thinking! 1980 wasn't that long ago - I was listening to New Wave music and partying at alternative night clubs!!! Wasted years but I wouldn't trade them in either...

These really inspired me and surprised me they even existed! And in color too!

Well,.. just good guitar. Anton Jimenez

Last week I saw a video of steve vai. Its not flamenco,.. but it impressed me more than 99% of the flamenco videos. So Im now more in e-guitar music than flamenco..

Hi everyone,

Good clips in the above posts. What a weird experience going from the faces of Diego de Morón to those of Steve Vai. Guitarists sure are funny people! Excellent artistic endeavor in the Paco clips.

Here are three of my choices. I haven't seen a lot of what's on YouTube, and these are just three that I've come across.

Niño Ricardo playing a soleá titled "Sevilla es mi tierra." What an odd video insofar as its artistic pretension, considering how old it must be (early 70s at the latest):

Niño Ricardo with Juanito Valderrama. A bit corny, but a little bit into the video we can see a close-up of Ricardo's right hand. Notice the upward curve in his right-hand thumbnail. Apparently, all of his nails were like this; a condition enigmatically termed "spoon nail."

Javier Conde playing a synthesis of Sabicas' granaínas:

@ cathulu....I like that one too. There's a video of Diego playing for his father that I'm sure you noticed, but here's the link

This guy has that special groove to my ears that I just can't get enough of.

Really? interesting. This is just the opposite to what i did.
I was into E-Guitar music for years (Steve Vai, Satriani, etc.) and then switched to Flamenco.

That's Dieguito, Diego (his uncle) plays at least 1000 times better.

jshelton5040 -> RE: Best Flamenco You Tube Post? (Dec. 16 2007 10:11:35)

I should have said played.

Listen to Diego del Gastor and see if you don't agree.

cathulu -> RE: Best Flamenco You Tube Post? (Dec. 16 2007 11:43:54)

That fusion flamenco piece was wow. I was transported to a different place. Tomatito showed such restraint and musicianship.

Lets see some more. Where is the flamenco that makes you rip your clothes off or jump out of a window. The last time I did that was at a hot tub party after too many drinks. [:D]

Stevie Vai was out there!

cathulu -> RE: Best Flamenco You Tube Post? (Dec. 16 2007 11:50:59)

Yes, he is technically better. But Dieguito was really getting into it, letting his emotions out - I loved that part.

Dieguito's Solea with Joselero - he shows better musicianship there I think, younger though.

Moraito, I like that guy's sound. I am trying to learn his intro and a few of his Tango falsetas from Rompeserones.
