Jan Willem -> Encuentro Manolo Franco (Dec. 2 2007 23:51:10)

Hi,

First of all I liked to say that Manolo Franco is one of a kind guitarist. I saw him live a few weeks ago and I was very impressed by his granaina. So I wanted to know and HEAR more from him. I used to think his pieces were a bit boring (don't know where I got that idea, maybe in a previous flamenco listening era.) but they are surprisingly modern.

Apperently there is an encuentro vid of him. Yet when you go to the encuentro site they don't offer it anymore. DOES ANYONE HAS IT?

My question is, manolo ends this video with a special bulera in D#. Is there a tab included? (just to know, yes I have the video so if I really want to I can play it by ear but since the odd tuning I would like to follow the piece with the tab etc...maybe even study some bits...)

Thx

JW

Hello Jan,

Yes, there is a tab in the Encuentro book for the Bulerias in D#. I don't know how accurate it is but I'm sure it's pretty good.

There is another great collection of 10 DVDs & CDs he did with producer Manuel Salado. Here is a link to it for more info. I have the collection and it is fantastic.

Here is an interview I did with him this summer if you haven't read it yet. He is a friend of mine.

Can you tell me how easy it is to read the music scores from the DVD, can they be printed?

These are very well done DVD's and worth the money (which is not high). Unfortunately they do not have a feature to print the tabs, but I got around that by running them in my computer and doing a "screen shot" of the page. I just hit the "Print Screen" button and just past the tabs into Word. It only takes a few seconds.
