Hi, has anyone experience of burguet guitars, this is a 2f label, do you think it looks unusual?

Yes, I would thank the dealer for ruining it's value by stamping it with what appears to be their stores stamp.[:@]

Yes Tom, thats not very good, i can't figure out what the number before the small 2 fs is

i've heard the name before, i think it was in a classical guitar magazine or something. i'll check up on it, if i find anything i'll let you know. the name does sound very familiar.

Hi michmcg.

I agree, it certainly looks as if it has been doctored. I have visited the Amalio Burguet factory, in the the Province of Valencia, Spain. There are many models available and obviously the cost and quality will vary. Amalio himself only makes one handmade flamenco model himself. The handmade model, is the ABF.

Are you going to buy this guitar? if so check out his website for further info.

I play a Burguet ABF. Burguet himself builds also a negra. The stamp seems to be from a German dealer. How stupid is this? Is the price label glued somewhere at the headstock? It wouldn't surprise me...

The red stamp on mine looks different, but mine is from 2004. I'm a bit surprised that there is a signature on the label, because as far as I know, Burguet singns only those guitars that are made by himself. Not 100% sure about this. The label itself looks ok. His signature looks ok, too. Where is the signature at the right side from?

Perhaps you have more photos of the guitar, especially one of the headstock.

Georg

Hi, thanks for the help everyone, really appreciate it, I had been looking for a flamenco guitar for a while and my girlfriend bought me this for my birthday from ebay, haven't recieved it yet, just got a little worried that the label didn't match up to any model i could find on the web, it was listed as a 2f

i'm going to try to email a photo of the label to the burguet website

Georg -> RE: burguet (Dec. 2 2007 23:17:30)

The head looks real in my opinion. If you write to Burguet keep in mind that he doesn't speak English. My experience is: If you write in English, he won't answer you.

Zorro02 -> RE: burguet (Dec. 2 2007 23:32:20)

Hi again.

If you contact the Burguet factory (via telephone) and ask in Spanish if English is spoken, (¿Hablas ingles?) you will probably get to speak to Amalio's Daughter. She speaks English and may well be able to help you.

Good luck and please keep us informed.

I hope that I may help with my comments that are not exactly what you have asked but I hope they will help you to feel happy about it.

I remember from many years ago that the label inside a guitar did not necessarily tell us very much and this could be a very good thing.

For example I was told that some guitars that were especially good had the label José Ramírez but most certainly were not made by him and that if you knew where to look deep inside the guitar you would find the signature of Manuel Contreras who later was to become most respected and to have his own place to work and sell.

It really does not matter who made it or where. Maybe someone you really like was working as an apprentice in the workshop of Burguet and made that guitar and does not have his name but is especially good.

Also I think with the greatest respect for Amalio that he has not the name that anyone would wish to fake. Yes, the name of Conde I could imagine that some could be interested to fake as it is so famous but not Burguet. It will be genuine I would imagine.

Maybe the shop that imported it put also their stamp inside the hole because they like to do that.

Finally if I may comment it seems to me that you have a very lovely girlfriend. I think to me I wouldn’t’ care anything about the words in the mouth of the guitar if my girlfriend gave to me that present. It would be my favourite guitar.

I wish you very much happiness with your new guitar.

Saludos cordiales,

Tomás

I think the label is ok.

Here a label from a later model.

well said tomás.

sig -> RE: burguet (Dec. 3 2007 18:33:16)

I have a Burguet 1F sp/cy from 2004 and its a very nice guitar. Low action, fast attack, good volume. It was my upgrade from a Rodriguez C3F which I bought when I first started playing Flamenco. The Rodriguez is ok and I think with a better set-up it would be a much better guitar; action is a bit high and the plastic saddle doesn't help. The label on yours looks correct other than the store stamp which Tom mentioned probably took away some value. On the other hand it isn't a hand made instrument by an esteemed luthier so I wouldn't be too concerned. I think how an instrument plays and feels in the guitarists hands and how it sounds counts much more than labels...

Hi, thanks everyone for your input, very well said tomas, nice sentiments, my girlfriend is lovely, i have many favorite sweaters, i couldn't agree more with what you say, the concern was that someone had been creative with a felt tip pen, therefore being deceitful, the consensus seems to be that alls well, that has made my girlfriends anxiety at possibly being ripped off dispel, i'm looking forward to playing my new guitar, happy thoughts abound, really thanks so much everyone
