Yeah we knew about it, very cool. I like these strings a lot, but prefer the black nylon trebels pack. And that set is VERY different than the 2001 series from La Bella.

So remember that picture noobs![:D][:D][:D]

Do these strings come in different tensions?

bahen -> RE: Aaron Greens guitar on packet of La bella strings (Nov. 23 2007 16:25:54)

Is there a difference between the different colours? I've had the black trebles on a bunch of times, but perhaps my ear isn't as sensitive to the change because I didn't notice anything.

I also bought a pack of these strings after reading about your opinion Ricardo (few weeks ago in another thread you mentioned that these are your favs.)

But still not used them and no experience with them - am waiting for the Luthier strings to die first[:D]

However, i couldnt find any seller for the pack with black trebles in Germany (only red).
Is the difference only the color or also different sound?

I am using this set now it is very nice but note that it will take some time to give you the sound dont make your judgment very quick.
unlike the black set you will get the sound immediately and more briliant sound but the red one is more worm and for me it is more flamenco.

itoprover -> RE: Aaron Greens guitar on packet of La bella strings (Nov. 24 2007 5:24:21)

How do they compare to D'Addario EJ-45 in terms of tension and sound?

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Aaron Greens guitar on packet of La bella strings (Nov. 25 2007 9:40:13)

The 820 and 820B are supposed to be the same, just diffrent colour. (Like french underwear)

I cant hear any differenece in sound. I like the strings. They are cheap, tune very well, Aarons guitar looks good, the trebles are VERY flamenco.

BUT... Not all guitars work with them and the basses get dull relatively fast.

Tension wise, they are like Daddario Normal, soundwise, its another world, especially the trebles.

Just put 820-B trebles on my guitar and noticed that 3rd(G) string has intonation problems - like quarter tone flatter, very noticeable. Unfortunately this is the second time I have intonation problems with LaBella's black trebles (last time it was 1st string from 2001 professional set), but I really like how they sound..

My guitar's eat LaBella G-String's while they are cased. I've had several of the
LaBella G-Strings just pop in the case. On both of my guitars.

Never happened with Luthier 20's

hey anders, where did you get the la bellas in spain?

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Aaron Greens guitar on packet of La bella strings (Dec. 12 2007 19:04:05)

Stephen

You can get them most places. In Granada, Pro musica on Gran Capitan has 820, the ones with red trebles. They also sell the black trebles one by one. (821b, 822b ans 823b) They are very cheap. Besides its the trebles that make the difference, the basses are just basses. They are good but dont last as long as Daddario and Luthier.
Remember, that not all guitars work with La Bella originals (I hate the 2001 series) The trebles kill some harmonics but have a wonderfull attack and a nice feeling when playing picado

Hey Anders, I know you are a man after my own heart with your fondness for Pro-Arte composite G's (spoink! spoink!) but have you seen these Mari's? I asked on the foro once before about these but no one seemed interested. I've tried some on my crappy student guitar and they improved it a lot, but on my better guitar the D's tended to pop while the guitar was in the case (maybe a dud batch of D's..?) but they are pretty good for the price (Don't tell Dominic I'm not pushing his Luthier's!)
Daniel Mari's father was the founder of La Bella Strings.

Andresito

I havent even heard about Mari strings.

andresito -> RE: Aaron Greens guitar on packet of La bella strings (Dec. 13 2007 20:24:31)

OK, that's understandable, even for a danish flamenco luthier! Not many people seem to know of them, I hadn't heard of them either but I think they're pretty good [:)]

Padre -> RE: Aaron Greens guitar on packet of La bella strings (Dec. 14 2007 7:33:53)

Mari strings are, in my opinion, weak. I tried the flamenco and classical packs in different tensions, they were dull compared to La Bella which IMO are dull compared to Savarez 520R. I guess they might have application on a vintage flamenco guitar to play very traditional flamenco accompainement with a more dull rattle type sound (e.g. Diego del Gastor bulerias), but that is not where most players are today and La Bella 2001 flamenco strings may do a better job at that.

BTW, I just made a move to the Conde flamenco strings for my Condes. I must say I was skeptical, figuring everything Conde does is overpriced and overstated, but WOW both the flamenco 730 normal tension and 735 high tension are nice strings - not overly lively like the 520R Savarez, clear, crisp, great tone not dull, all 6 strings seem to really sing. Paid $13.50/pack US, ouch!

Larry
