Hi Kev,
Yeah...I've got his album "Bajo la Luna" and have got to admit he's a fine guitarist.
But, somehow I find it a bit "clinical"...like I do NiƱo de Pura as well...
I don't know what it is?
It's like "personality free" playing.
Although both players are totally excellent technically.

cheers,

Ron

yep, I have been saying he is underrated for a long time. Cuchichi starts with a rumba, then the next piece is bulerias with Jose Merce singing ay..... in the intro. Not sure if it is the same or the tracks are mixed. Another CD I have he plays a duet with Paco por fangangos, very cool.

I'm glad to say that I got all of Enrique's CDs. I got the Cuchichi and La noche y el dia from Espacio Flamenco (the DeFlamenco shop). I must say that the lady at the counter was very nice, but didn't know the Cuchichi, she had a smile when I asked for it, a funny name for a flamenco CD, I suppose.

Enrique de Melchor is a great guitarist. I have "Bajo la Luna" but havent heard it for a while. I mostly listen to him with Cante and mostly with Mairena. I understand what Ron sais about clinical, but I find it to be mostly in the sound of his playing which is a bit on the clinical side. I find his playing to be very personal and I normally recognize him quite easily.
