Check her out-she really gets it going in her escobilla with the big hip sway.

Does it say she's 5 years old???
While shes clearly vey good, I can help being reminded of those horrible beauty pageant things from the US.

Mmmm. No I can't say I agree. She clearly has a memory for sequences of steps, but no technique to speak of and as for the fake duende[:'(][:'(]

I wonder if the interest in Flamenco is her own or parent driven? I don't much like watching children dance flamenco (or sing flamenco for that matter), but for one so young I thought she did really well, and in what must have been a hugely intimidating environment. I'd rather watch this than a bunch of tots doing the Rumba in their frilly frocks.

I'm not by any means an expert in dance, but I did play for dancers for a number of years. I've played for a few pros, and played hundreds of classes. The girl may have been late on her corte before the escobilla, but with you tube and sync, it's hard to be that critical. Same with maybe some compas stuff in the buleria, but again, it's not that clear to me. What does seem to be clear, is that she is fabulous for her age, and I'd bet she will be a pro one day. She looks better in terms of overall movement than many women I've played for that had been dancing for years. I don't think she's fake at all. She has much more than a memory for steps, I think she has a feeling for the essential elements that make up the dance.

Guess you missed it back in September.

I wasn't impressed with the bulerias, but still think the alegrias was really good for her age. Of course she's copying, but so are all the women in classes, and many are nowhere near as good. Pros-different story entirely, IMO.

She's definitely got chutzpah (dare I say cojones!), but I much prefer to watch the kids on Rito y Geographia - sans frilly skirts and pretense. They're having fun and many are clearly artists in the making, but it's a natural progression within a community environment. This young girl is like a hothouse rose - where's the perfume?!
