Yes mine too. I just had lunch with Emilio and we were looking at his myspace and he was saying " Who are all these people???" I told him that many came from the flamenco forum and showed him how to go to their pages and listen to their music. I think he's hooked now !!

Hope you all like the rock tracks as well, it's so nice to showcase Harold's work and hear some of the old tracks he recorded.

Thanks for being a friend Florian [sm=kiss.gif]

My favourite track of Emilio's is the Alegrias.

And amazing to read Harold's biog![:)][:)]

And mine!! This Sunday on my radio show we're doing a special show on bulerías, I'm pretty sure I'm going to end with that track. It's rocking [;)]

Yeah he's been around a bit [:D] By an amazing stroke of good fortune his sister's boyfriend's band ended up at Woodstock and made enough money to buy Hook End Manor where Harold built his first studio and got to work with so many amazing people. That studio is now one of the finest in England. LOL we couldn't afford to record there !!!

Glad you like the 'Jam De Pablo' that was recorded on one day and was composed on the spot by Pablo Maldonado, a brilliant pianist from Granada. Amazingly considering its length, about 8 minutes, it gets played on the radio all the way through.

Hey Adam

I didn't know you had a radio show. Nice one !!!! What did you think of the piano bulerías ? That's from the Taller de Compás CD we produced, I dont know if you got a copy of that when you were here. Its still available on cdbaby as we left copies in the US when we toured there but nowhere else sadly.

.... now don't be so modest, Ten Years After's "Going Home" has got to be one of the finest live rock performances captured on film.

My 2 degrees of separation: my Mum handled a sale of fire/burglar alarms for that house when Alvin Lee was in residence in the 70s.

We worked out that many years later, Harold was sound engineer for "The Godfathers" at the Town and Country in London when my band was on the same bill - along with "The Shamen", I believe.

Actually, 3 degrees as we all ended up into flamenco and Granada [:D]

Thanks! Yeah, it's a lot of fun, every Sunday night on Yale's radio station...if you want I can send you the link to the site, it's got recordings + links to live broadcasts (if you want to listen live, I think it's at 1 AM Granada time...you must just be finishing up at the Eshavira! [:D]). I haven't heard any Taller de Compas stuff before. I've heard you talk about them a lot, who are they, exactly? The piano bulerias was cool stuff, I enjoyed that...might just pick up that disc on CDBaby...wish I was around for that US tour!!

God Simon we're practically related [:D]

I would have been at that Godfathers gig. It's all a bit of a blur to be honest. They are having a reunion on St Valentines day next year, ha ha Twenty Years After. I wonder if your Mum met Harold when she went to Hook End ! Agree the Woodstock footage of Alvin is incredible. He's also lives in Spain. This place is filling up with retired Rockers. I hear you have more than your fair share in the valley !

Taller de Compás were a group of kids formed from a Compás workshop run by the Gypsy Association in Almanjayar. We saw them play at the Eshavira one night when H was doing the sound there and were knocked out. We went on to produce an album with them 'Calé Cale', with various guest artists, Enrique Morente, Emiloi Maya, Pablo Maldonado, all people we were also working with. The CD won the critics award for best flamenco percussion album of 2002. When we started the kids were as young as 12 and I also became their chaperone/manager when they started doing gigs around Spain and we had to stay overnight. We had some wild times but none as wild as our US/Canada tour. They played around 16 gigs over 20 days, Chicago, Detroit, Indiana, Wisconsin, Toronto. They're almost all grown up now, the two youngest got married and are expecting their first child, the eldest the dancer Andrés is also a father. This forum was active in raising money for him when he was offered a place at the Mario Maya school and could not afford to go. We paid his school fees. He now teaches and still dances and is managing the second phase of the group's career as adults, now called 'Compás de Almanjayar', their first gig is later this month to celebrate the Day of the Gypsies.
