Kate -> flamenco's new audiences (Oct. 27 2007 20:18:06)

Just been reading this article about the latest place to stage its own flamenco festival, China
http://www.deflamenco.com/noticias/verArticuloi.jsp?codigo=FLA|2138

The first paragraph reads
"Seven years ago, a project got underway that, according to specialized observers was “destined to failure”. The experts warned that a festival dedicated to flamenco could not possibly be successful in the United States. But it was held all the same. And the following year as well, and the next, and it was later extended to London and Paris, and now those same experts can scratch their heads and observe how the event, known simply as “Flamenco Festival”, in its eighth edition, is going to China to coincide with the official Year of Spain in China."

And of course this year was the first Slovenian Flamenco Festival, so how was it Matic ? Emilio said they 've been invited back next year to do a whole week, performances and workshops.

Also just recently Emilio went to South Korea with 'Tres Cuitarras de Granada" along with Miguel Ochando and Paco Cortes. They still have to learn a bit about respect and how to treat their guest artists. I was horrified to hear from Emilio that one of the festival organisers took a copy of Temple from the sales stand, copied and returned it. Later Emilio was given a compilation album of music from the festival as a gift, on it was his track Tacones de Plata, lifted straight from his CD and not even credited to him !!!

Its raining here so have nothing better to do today than rant !!

Ha ha yes it sure does, usually every Easter just to rain on the parade so to speak. Last night was a big storm. Today however the sky is blue the sun is out and all is well. Granada in winter is a different place, when the snow is on the mountain it's very cold and crisp air, sun still shines though even if it snows.
