Taranto -> Moisture meter (Oct. 12 2007 20:08:29)

Hi,
I just bought a moisture meter from ebay for about $20. It reports 0% for any wood I try it on. I tried it on a tree in the garden and it said 22%.

Is there anything I can do or it's simply a piece of junk?

i'd throw that **** out.

humi case makes a good set.

maybe you just got a bum hygrometer, or your guitar is dryer than dust... or you haven't left it in an enclosed space ... or the batteries are low.....

throw it away lol

Is it a analogous or a digital one?

Hi

Good moisture meters will cost a few bucks. A good one who measures accurately may cost easily two hundered US $.

The cheapo stuff is not worthwile the money.

I emailed the seller and he told me that trying it on the surface wont show anything and I have to cut the wood from the middle and try it there. Well I did as he said and it actually works.

Do you know if those expensive ones can measure without cutting the wood?
