Padre -> Tie block height (Oct. 11 2007 19:24:56)

I have a Juan Hernandez Prof-F model flamenco guitar in which the tie block seems too high. The holes are drilled about the right location but the wood above the holes puts it much higher than the saddle. The strings feel tight on it and playability a bit uncomfortable, not soft and easy as I would expect from a good 650mm scale flamenco.

Can height of the tie block have an effect on the "tightness" of the instrument? If so, my plan would be to remove the tie block ornament and sand down the block then reglue. How best does one remove the tie block ornament without significant damage?

The entire bridge was not done well IMO, even thought it was made by Juan Hernandez himself. I had to bevel the saddle block behind the saddle due to string buzz and interference when the saddle was lowered to flamenco string height.
