I have a clip-on Korg AW-1 Micro Tuner that works very well. I tried several models at a local music shop before purchasing that one and found it to better in several ways than any of the others I tried. It has two methods of picking up musical tones to measure. One is a built-in microphone that is sensitive enough to work a couple feet (2/3 meter) away from a nylon string guitar (farther if a guitar is picked especially loud), so the tuner can be clipped on a music stand or similar support rather than a guitar in quiet environments. The second method is a built-in piezo-electric vibration sensor that senses vibrations directly from a guitar or other musical instrument body, rather than sound waves in the air, for use in noisy environments or for use with an electric guitar with the amplifier off to enable silent tuning. Both methods work very well with any of my guitars and the tuning accuracy in either mode is the same. The tuner is supplied with two spring-loaded clamps of different sizes that enable the vibration mode to be used with a wide range of different types of musical instruments (virtually any string or wind instrument). Battery life hasn’t been a problem. The tuner was supplied with a battery, but the instructions warned that the included battery was intended only for temporary initial use, that it probably wouldn’t last long, and that it should be replaced promptly with a new battery. Even so, I used the supplied battery every day for two months before I remembered to buy a new one and it was still working fine when I replaced it. It has been couple months since I installed the new battery and the tuner still works fine. The only disadvantage (besides higher price) I found with the Korg AW- I compared to the others I tried at the music shop is that the Krog doesn't have a lighted display like some of the others. That could be an issue tuning in a dark environment, but I have always been able to see the display even when lighting has been rather dim. An advantage of not having a lighted display is that the battery lasts longer. Bob
