Taranto -> First glue then work it to shape or ...? (Sep. 17 2007 17:28:33)

Hi Luthiers,
It seems that a lot during building is first glued then shaped. To me it sounds like begging for trouble.
Do you first glue the braces and then shape it or the other way round? If you glue first, have you ever damaged the sound board when shaping the braces?
Do you:
a. shape the heel, cut the neck to shape, glue the heel, shave the back of neck, glue the fingerboard and then attach it to the sides or
b. the other way round?
Do you:
a. glue the back pieces to each other. Cut a slot and glue the binding or
b. put a binding in the middle of the two back pieces and glue them together?
