ohh mannnnnnnnnnnnn,

my future dughter will all dance like this,

this is sure,

my gitanas,

hahahahahaaaaa[:D]

Ricardo -> RE: LOOK at this 9 year old girl dancing!! (Sep. 14 2007 20:57:35)

I am sure she is older than the uploader says. Maybe 9 in the alegrias, 13 in the bulerias?

buleria -> RE: LOOK at this 9 year old girl dancing!! (Sep. 15 2007 12:22:18)

Sorry, doesn't do anything for me. Would much rather see a woman with life experience dance buleria. It's pretty and technically good but...
(and yes, I have just left myself open to the "well, you would say that cos you're OLD" response!!![;)]) Karenanne

Ailsa -> RE: LOOK at this 9 year old girl dancing!! (Sep. 15 2007 12:43:18)

Yes I'm afraid I agree with Karenanne. She's obviously going to be quite something when she's older, but it left me a bit empty right now. I'm going to be completely shot down here, but I didn't even think it was technically that good. [&:][&:] Sorry guys! Interesting to watch though.

PS, yes I am VERY old.[;)][;)][:)] That must be it. [;)]

Arash -> RE: LOOK at this 9 year old girl dancing!! (Sep. 15 2007 13:14:28)

Well, i think i understand what you mean Karenanne and Ailsa.

It is abvious that you can´t expect an expressive way of dancing which you may see from elder and experienced female dancers, from this girl.

The kind of charisma combined with perfect technique which moves and touches
you, can only be achieved through a long experience mixed with femininity of woman (and not children).

But however, i liked it just in a way when you see a young boy who is able to play the guitar much better than you would expect from his age.

But i have to admit that i have no idea about the right or wrrong techniques in Baile.

Ailsa -> RE: LOOK at this 9 year old girl dancing!! (Sep. 15 2007 13:25:18)

Yeah Arash, I know where you are coming from and I agree it can be extraordinary to see a child attempt something like this. No criticism intended, I was interested to see it [:)]

duende -> RE: LOOK at this 9 year old girl dancing!! (Sep. 15 2007 14:55:02)

i think she´s very talented. but somehow i get the feeling she´s copying (very well)
things she seen older dancers do. the moves the facialexpressions etc

likes she can do the moves but she doesnt have the emotional level at her age to know/feel why she does it.

...did i get my piont across[8|]..rr

Yes I think you managed to sum up what other, including me [&:], were trying to express [:)]

buleria -> RE: LOOK at this 9 year old girl dancing!! (Sep. 15 2007 17:19:39)

Having said all that I do have a dvd of La Macanita singing bulerias when she was about 3 or 4 and that is truly amazing! Karenanne

Ricardo -> RE: LOOK at this 9 year old girl dancing!! (Sep. 15 2007 17:51:06)

Cool. My feelings are the same as the two ladies and Duende, I just wanted to wait and see. Most dancers I know would consider this girl not really anything great. Believe there ARE young kids in Spain that ARE good. This girl was just going through her routine and not very solid on it anyway. And not many decent dancers would do a BULERIAS on Spanish TV to a CD.

It does not feel good to "pick on kids", so I only wanted to point out that I doubt she is probably not that young like it says. But yeah, there younger kids that are really amazing with feeling and technique and all. I get the feeling someone is making her do this. That is something I have seen too many times (proud parent forcing the kid on stage).

Sorry for the negativity.

Ricardo

- These are my feelings as well. But after reading the above posts, I can see what you all mean too...

cheers! [8D]

Kate -> RE: LOOK at this 9 year old girl dancing!! (Sep. 17 2007 11:38:14)

Wow what's it called ? La Macanita is one of my favourite singers.

It was great to see Remedios Amaya singing when she was younger in that clip Ricardo posted. On Estrella Morente's second album they included a track of her singing along to Sabicas when she was 7. It is quite common for flamencos to start young, though I guess you never hear about them unless they are very good. Emilio Maya won his first guitar competition aged 8. El Charico was singing professionally at that age. I took a group of young performers on a US tour when they were aged 14 - 18 but I first saw them on stage when one kid was so small his feet did not reach the ground when he sat on the cajon.

buleria -> RE: LOOK at this 9 year old girl dancing!! (Sep. 17 2007 18:31:20)

Hi Kate - I think it's called Ninos de Flamenco (My friend did me a copy) and it may well be from the same dvd Ricardo posted a clip from as Remedios is on it. So is a very young Moraito. At the end a little toddler is there standing by her mother and all of us watching it went 'My God!' - then the name La Macanita appeared beneath it. The power in her voice - even at that age - is amazing. Hope you manage to find it. Karenanne
