Arash -> My first trip to Andalucia (Sep. 7 2007 11:36:59)

I am going to make a short vacation in Spain/Andalucia (my first trip) together with my uncle who also plays flamenco guitar and who is coming to Germany from USA, end of this month and we can stay about 8 days only.[:(]
After that we go to Italy.

I know it is not much time but we are planning to go to Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba and maybe Malaga or Jerez.
Is there any interesting flamenco guitar event in these cities in the first week of Octobre?
And can you please give me addresses of locations (bars, cafes, etc.) where i should go to see some flamenco performance?
Also any suggestion for not-flamenco related sights which we should go?
I really have no experience so any information or suggestion would be helpfull.
I am reading a guidebook but maybe you have better informations specially regarding flamenco related events/locations.

I will make many fotos and also film and will upload them for you after i come back.

Thanks!

Arash

Cordoba - The Mezquita
Sevilla - The Giralda
Granada - The Alhambra
Jerez - any sherry warehouse

Somewhere there's a thread of flamenco venues in Granada which I posted, have a search for it. Think the Granada Autumn Flamenco Festival may be in October, could be November though. Will try and find out.

I wrote this some time ago but most info is correct. There's a link for booking tickets for the ALhambra as well which you really have to do in advance or get up at 7 am and queue for hours, then return for time stated on your ticket. if you get one.

Thank you very much Kate. The Guide to Granada is exactly what i wanted.

Is there any guide like this one for the other cities including the address of the Penas, Tablaos, etc?
Thanks.

@Franchiquito. We will go to Roma.
Well, middle of Sep. is too early. We will start our tour End of Sep./beginning Oct.
However, can you give me more information about this festival? is there a website ?

Glad it was useful.

I found these sites about Sevile with a quick google

http://www.exploreseville.com/flamenco.htm
http://www.spanish-fiestas.com/seville/flamenco.htm

and Cordoba

Arash -> RE: My first trip to Andalucia (Sep. 8 2007 18:24:48)

Thank you very much for your help Kate. Very good sources.
Seems like there are many more locations in Sevilla than Cordoba.

Kate -> RE: My first trip to Andalucia (Sep. 8 2007 18:54:33)

Yes but Cordoba is wonderful, worth it for the Mezquita.

Seville, Granada and Cordoba are not that far from each other. When I first came to Andalucia I had ten day trip and managed to see all three of these cities and Malaga and spend a few days hanging out on the beach.

Anyway enjoy

Enjoy andalucia, it's fantastic, and enjoy Rome too it's a beauty.
