Hey guys,

accompanying these palos in a dance school and need some interesting, rhythmically not too complicated falsetas, a bit tough to find for these palos!

No problem, but personally, I would not play any peteneras if nobody has died yet...[:D]

John O. -> RE: Serranas/Peteneras falsetas - who's got 'em? (Sep. 6 2007 14:18:28)

Yeah I've heard that's the palo which when played "all the Spanish people run away" [:D] Supposedly believed to bring bad luck...

Sadly the guy died.

You are joking no? I mean the whole Peteneras bad luck thing is just superstition. [&:][&:]

I realized, that one Petenera from the site I mentioned, does not open with tef view.

This is an error that occurs with several tef files.
You can open it with the demoversion of tabledit though. Could be useful for some of you.

A couple of years ago, just fiddling around, I married a Peteneras intro to a Bulerias intro and I had the energy then to upload it..[:D]
So maybe the good luck of one would cancel out the other...eh?[:D]

(Just trying to steer things back onto guitar stuff rather than jokes...[;)])

cheers,

But it's double tracked halfway through!
(And compressed to hell! [:D])

Veeery nice ... you should be uploading more here, Ron [:)]

Ron.M -> RE: Serranas/Peteneras falsetas - who's got 'em? (Sep. 9 2007 14:31:19)

Thanks very much John!
I've never actually heard a Peteneras in A before, so it might be worth developing as it could maybe throw up some interesting chords.
(before you die horribly of the curse! [:D])
As for uploading stuff...I'm not a big practiser...just really fiddle around with the guitar every now and then when I'm in the mood, so I really just come up with something I think is worth sharing maybe every six months or so!

Thanks again!

cheers,

Ron

Yep, nice sound as always. You may have broken the curse! I noticed too that PDL snuck in a bit of Cafe de Chinitas (famous peteneras) in the middle of his Granainas on Fantasia Flamenca. Probably he just needed to fill time since it was a short piece.

Ron.M -> RE: Serranas/Peteneras falsetas - who's got 'em? (Sep. 9 2007 22:22:41)

Ricardo!!
Cafe de Chinitas!
Your taking me back a long time when I used to hang out there in my youth..[:D]
That's where I met Serranito.
I used to stay by the Retiro Park so was just a walk away from Amor de Dios studios and all the low life of Plaza Santa Ana and the "El Rey de los Pinchos Moruños" Bar who would serve Moroccan Kebabs and play loud Cuban music out the juke box all day and night..
One of the older Argentinos (a poet and writer) once lent me some money, (5000pts) on leaving my Ramirez 1A as a security.
A very nice chap, and being more experienced and worldly-wise than me, warned me never to do such a thing again.

Thing is, I was rapidly running out of money, so my good friend Fernando told me that there was a "State Pawn Shop" that was only open between 8am and 12, so I'd have to get my ass out of bed.
Anyway, we went to the Pawn Shop, which looked like the descriptions of stores in Russia... and went up to this counter, where a guy in a brown overall inspected the goods.
My friend explained to him that this was a Flamenco guitar made by one of the finest Luthiers in Spain and would cost in excess of 150,000pts.
The guy opened the case and took out the guitar, examining it carefully and minutely like a connesseur.
He then very carefully placed it back in the case, like it was a work of art, closed the lid, folded his arms and said "Dos Mil Pesetas". (2000)

Man, Spain no es bueno when you don't have any money![:D]

BTW...
Did you ever visit the "Cerveceria Alemana" on that square?
Great friends and characters there, Political intellectuals and escapees from Chile and Argentina and the smelliest toilets ever!

Christ knows why someone didn't get the W.H.O flown in there to shut them down..[:D][:D]

cheers,

Ron
