Anyone know much about Ouds? Had a quick go on one yesterday in a shop, but decided not to buy it. Still thinking though, where can these be found without going on holiday?

I have just discovered that my Oud source has gone under. Out of business! I am now on the lookout for a new source. Here in the US., there does not seem to be a large demand for this instrument. At least not through me so I may end up just scratching the idea of carrying these.

If you can read Arabic you will get lot of information about Ouds, in fact its the basic of every instrument you heard about and it has sweet sound i like to listen to Oud but i love to play Guitar [;)]

Hi, TANunez -

You could check out the Ud Web or Mike's Oud Cafe. They both have links to oud makers who'd be happy to help you out! There are also several luthiers in the U.S. who make very beautiful ouds (and yes, they're very expensive, but magnificent!).

Thanks guys for your suggestions and offers. I'll keep them in mind!
