Stu -> Paco in London (Jul. 30 2007 23:47:00)

I just had some good news!
A couple of days ago I got real excited as I'd just bought a ticket for Pacos Concert in London in November. [:D]
As I parted with my hard earned £50, I reasoned with myself that its ok to treat myself now and again, the bills can wait, and after all this was Paco! (never seen him in concert before)

Now and again I do some freelance work with a music production company that usually manages a lot of gigs at the Royal Festival Hall (where the concerts is).
The work is generally co-ordinating the event/backstage/running work etc.

It suddenly twigged that they may be doing the very same PDL concert.

I e-mailed them right away to find out.
Sure enough the email I recieved from them today said they are doing it and that they want me to work it!!![:D][:D]

Now the dilema (if you can call it that)
Do I decide to go to the concert as a spectator and enjoy the music in a comfy seat without the hassle of being at work.

OR.....Do I work the gig, get paid, listen to warm ups/soundchecks, get to meet Paco and probably get to see most of concert anyways???

.....I've just decided as I'm writing,, theres no choice to make.

Stu

I think you have made the right decision, if your company needs any further help, I will also be available to help on that night too. [:D]

Agreed - and it looks like you've decide to work the gig anyway, that's great. If you're at the soundcheck then San Paco might appreciate having an insider on the crew. And you may get to hang out with him afterwards (and see that he can smoke and drink a lot and still play like that!)

Yeah I'm definately gonna do the gig. only problem, and it is a minor one. I've now got a ticket that I'm not gonna use. I'll have to phone the box office to see if I can get a refund. or shift it on ebay.

Every gig I've done before with this company, I've got the chance to meet the artists even hear them jamming backstage and at some of these concerts I've actually been assigned as artist liason which basically means I'm the artists butler. If I am looking after Paco, I'm not sure I'll get any work done. I'll be in awe the whole time.

Hey Zorro, The company often needs extra people so if they mention they need some others perhaps I could get ya involved. Although, I've never met ya so wouldn't really wanna recommend someone in that way. Are you a hard worker??? [;)]
