Anyone know the correct Spanish terms for:

1. Headstock
2. Mechanical Tuners
3. Pegs
4. Fret
5. Neck
6. Nut
5. Saddle

Need accuracy so no guesses or Google translations, thanks!

2. Mechanical Tuners - clavijeros mecanicos
3. Pegs - clavijeros (de madera)
4. Fret - traste
5. Neck - mango or mastil
6. Nut - hueso (de cabeza)
5. Saddle - hueso ( del puente)

Down here pegs are called palillos.

OK, thanks. So how about purfling, binding and action?

Didn't we have a recent post on this subject? I can't find it.

Only if you are confused by terms such as "palillos de dientes". The context clarifies the meaning and palillos has lots more meanings, at least in Andalucía.

Hi Simon

Rafael does not really distinguish between purfling and binding as he usually uses simple bindings (al Reyes) or puts then on all at once. Here they are called junquillos, though I think the purfling could be called perfiles.

I understand that the back of a guitar is referred to as the suelo in Granada, but as the fondo in Cádiz. Gaditanos also refer to the masts of a ship as palos, though my novia, who is from a village in the sierra nearby, calls them mastiles.

Meanwhile "caña" is another interesting word, referring to a bamboo stick, the same stick split and used as a percussion device, sugar cane, a glass for manzanilla, a palo flamenco and I don´t know what else!

Isn´t learning Andalú fun[:D]
