the guitar is labeled as such

"Casa Ferrer

This is from memory.
Ferrer is/was a very fine maker who lost an arm (I believe in his taller) Incredibally he continued to build and I'm sure this was the case up until quite recently. Manuel Diaz and others collaborated to 'give him a hand' (dreadful joke[:(]) and keep his casa going.

Casa Ferrer was founded in 1875 by Benito Ferrer. He is often remembered as the guy who provided a struggling young musician (Andres Segovia!) with a free guitar. His nephew Eduardo Ferrer Castillo (died in the 1980s) operated a business in Cuesta Gomerez. A lot of the makers in Granada who are in their 60’s and beyond served their apprenticeship with Ferrer (Manuel Bellido, Jose Bellido, Antonio Marin Montero, Antonio Raya Pardo, Antonio Duran Zureta). The last two on the list married Ferrer daughters. Antonio Duran (this is the guy with one arm Jim) was in charge of the Ferrer workshop until he set up his own business in the 1950s. Both Raya Pardo and Duran have sons who are building guitars and because of the Spanish way of naming people, the Ferrer name lives on. F Manuel Diaz credits his training to Manuel de la Chica but he obviously made guitars for the Ferrer shop.
