Sorry, all the respect for Javier, but THIS is what really pisses ME off!
Few weeks ago that Rayito guy, now Javier?!
Why?
I think it's crap.
You?

Was this really his idea? What was he thinking??? [&:]

Ron.M -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 21 2007 15:52:01)

Yeah, but it's not intended to be Flamenco.
Just a catchy tune to be played in the clubs and pubs at the tourist resorts in Spain.
Hey..the guy already knows what Flamenco is!

I quite like it as a catchy tune..and the picado is great.
I hope he makes some dough out of it.
Give da boy a break here people. [:D]

cheers,

Ron

JDiaz -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 21 2007 16:09:14)

hmm, interesting. Not Flamenco but like Ron said i don't think it's intended to be Flamenco. Ya, it is a club song i guess. He's experimenting with other styles and some just won't like it. I met him last yr, cool kid and damn talented!

gerundino63 -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 21 2007 16:11:56)

If it is for in the club do some rap with it or some R&B, but not a cheap70's thing......[:D]

Never underestimate people's capacity for appreciating cheap crap, especially when on holiday.

Remember, a lot of money was made from "The Birdie Song" etc...[:D]

Ricardo -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 21 2007 19:21:07)

Very bad. I would forgive the techno beat if he did some cool phrasing in his improv. THis was lame all around. And the speed is not fast enough to impress either. How about a slower beat with faster picado? At least something.

I liked it for what it is. The Picado sounds good.

Here is my flamenco/techno(ish) experiment. More downtempo chill stuff........

Experimentation is good. Give Javier a break.

I agree, but I bet it will be hammering out of all the clubs on the Spanish coast this summer, folk will buy it to remind them of their holiday and he'll probably get invited to do a few spots on TV programmes.

So?

People will get to know his name.

Everybody dig out your record of the young Paco de Lucia playing "Que Sera, Sera" with crap orchestra and the big, bum out-of-tune note at the end.[:D][:D]

Still didn't stop him being Paco de Lucia, just probably helped him pay the bills until he could be.

cheers,

Ron

Matic -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 21 2007 20:55:29)

I smell the money since I heard the record too.
Yes, it will reach people who would never listen to his music.
But this could go either good or bad way.
What if Javier starts to like the attention/popularity/money he gets by making such music? Like Rayito? ...
This is the thing that worries me, I don't care for the song, I wont listen to it again. But lets hope his flamenco isn't going to become just a history.

Jason, I find your piece a LOT more interesting and I enjoyed it much more than Javier's. It has something catchy to it. another proof that you don't need a fast picado to make a good music. And I think A faster picado wouldn't make Javier's song sound better nor would it impress me.

JasonMcGuire -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 21 2007 21:07:59)

Flamenco records don't make money at all. Artists need money to survive. I wish Javier the best in his career and hope he makes choices that will provide him a life with the comfort necessary to be more flamenco. I chose to feed my family. I still play straight up flamenco every week at my local gigs, however I don't record it much because it's lack of commercial appeal. That doesn't mean I appreciate flamenco any less.

Damn...I knew I shouldn't have downloaded that Quicktime update, as once you do that (or RealPlayer) they try to take over your computer!
(Even when you answer NO to the question.."Do you want blah, blah to be your default player?"....they just do it anyway, just to give you "An enhanced Internet experience". [:D][:D]

At one time I had your piece playing on 3 different players all at the same time, but slightly time shifted, producing an interesting phasing effect. [:D]

Anyway Jason...your stuff is far too classy and refined to be included in the Flamingo catagory.
I liked it a LOT, although (and I'm sure you'd agree) it's not "Flamenco".

It's just good, sophisticated World/Latin Music to a very high standard.

The thing is, that it's too complex and moody for the average drunken tourist on the Costa Brava to remember...whereas Javier's tune is so basic that the punters are still whistling it while lying in the gutter.[:D]

The bottom line for me is that I have no problem with "Flamenco" Artists doing the occasional "commercial" tune, but a lot of annoyance with "Flamingo" Artists doing a pretentious "Flamenco" tune.

cheers,

Ron

Doitsujin -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 21 2007 22:47:59)

Well.. Javiers hous-music is a bit cheesy but I like it. It sounds young and fresh. Good for the younger generation. They could use his song a new titlemusic for super-mario-bros22. ^^
Well.. I allways thought on doing something like that. Finally he was faster than me and honetly ...I cant do it better. [:D]

Florian -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 21 2007 22:48:56)

Oh never mind , BABEL translator worked good enough, just most time people use jargon and it dosent work so well.

translation wasent perfect but atlist i understand. lol

koella -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 21 2007 22:49:31)

Hey Flo. He asks email address or phone number from Cerreduela, because he has to contact him. And it's urgent.

[:D]

koella -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 21 2007 22:51:17)

Watch out. He's after your Anders guitar.[:D]

lol , yeah i know

Again i cant dload or watch long videos on my speed but if this guy is the same guy i saw as a kid. Rayito hes a great guitarist.

gato -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 22 2007 7:30:10)

I think things like that, though not flamenco in the pure sense, are good, because the record companies have to pay the bills with popular music in order to pay for production of more serious music. Someone has to do it and that is the recording buisness reality. It's well done, and I hope that he goes far for the rest of us, and our addiction to serious music which is not possible to record if it weren't for people like Javier.

Matic -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 22 2007 13:46:54)

Flo!
He sent me similar message.
I know nothing lol.

But it cheers me up because this could mean he's going to make some stuff with David which I smell will be great.
I hope it has some techno beats running.
[:)]

Florian -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 23 2007 2:23:17)

I justy tought of this, i feel rude if i dont replie.

But dosent he live in the US ? I can replie in English, cant I ? anyone know ?

Conrad -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 23 2007 2:56:15)

Florizzle, you are confusing Javier Conde with Rayito, two different guys. Javier Conde lives in Andalucia still, and I find it funny that he's asking you for Cerreduela's number. [:D] You think they might know how to get in touch with each other, but there you go...

-Con

Florian -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 23 2007 3:08:42)

lucky you told me i was about to talk to him as you do with a litlle boy..[8|]

Matic -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 23 2007 6:21:03)

Flo!
I sent him a message like: Sorry I don't have any info.

And he kindly replied: THANK YOU! I've found David's info here in spain.

So...they are in touch i guess, dont worry.

Florian -> RE: Javier Conde... :S (Jun. 23 2007 6:23:27)
