Stadium flamenco? Hmm. Not sure about that. The various aircraft hangars you mention are very grand, I suppose (you forgot to mention Sadler's Wells and Olympia). But an audience and the art would certainly be better served in somewhere like Hackney Empire. There are dozens of theatres 'suitable' for Paco De Lucia in Britain, and several of them in London. Huh? are you serious? PDL is not exactly gonna bother doing a show in Bognor Regis now, is he? when he comes to England (which he RARELY EVER does, these days) its BIG CITIES ONLY. And within LONDON, there are LIMITED venues that would be suitable. The ones I mentioned above are the most popular with Flamenco artists. In addition, Saddlers Wells sometimes has Flamenco artists, but I would question whether it is the right size for a PDL concert. I doubt ANY serious flamenco artist has ever played at OLYMPIA in the last 10 years. In theory, it would be possible. But its just not that sort of venue. And as for "aircraft hangers", PDL played a the Barbican last time he was here, as did Estrella Morente and Tomatito. Gerardo Nunez always plays at The South Bank Centre, and The Gypsy Kings and Joaquin Cortes prefer The Royal Albert Hall. Hackney Empire?! Can you really imagine Paco The Great playing there? It might be a smaller and more intimate setting in which to appreciate the artform, but that isn't the only thing thats considered these days. [;)] Saludos, Jb
