ָAnybody attended this school? How's the level? Is it good for an intermediate-advanced player?

I'm thinking of going there for 2 weeks and I like the idea of combining Spanish language course with guitar lessons. My spanish is based on pimsleur's learn to speak spanish audio course and I don't feel confident enough with it to go to any spanish teacher and learning spanish will help with future trips...

Hi. I took the intermediate level course three years ago. I should have taken the beginner level course, but the inter was the one that fit my timing. The instructor, who was great, bent to accommodate me and another guy who was at my level. There were a total of six in the class, so there was a reasonable amount of personal attention. We did some solea, farruca and granaina.

The school itself is wonderful - great location, good facilities and very helpful staff. I rented my guitar from them. I was staying very close to the school, so I was able to go there to practice. The people who took the language courses seemed to be very pleased too. One of the instructors organized walking tours of Granada a few times while I was there and they were very instructive and enjoyable. And of course Granada is a magical city.

In general people speak well about the school. Take the language course. I totally agree that it´ll help you in the long run. Take a good look at prices for the guitar courses. Maybe you´ll be better of with some private lessons focussing on one or two palos. To much school can be boring[;)]

I just posted elsewhere on the forum about Emilio Maya starting up his own school in the Albaicin, Peña Flamenco Calle San José, 24 He was previously teaching at Carmen Las Cuevas. When he has the website together I'll post the link.

But still Carmen Las Cuevas is a great place to combine flamenco and language classes.

Kate, my instructor was Alfredo Mesa. You probably know him. He was very good - patient and flexible. He put in a lot of extra time to accommodate me and one other student who were somewhat behind the others. And it was a real treat to see him perform at one of the concerts at the Center in Sacromonte.
