Is the finish of the interior of any importance to the sound? For example if
the inside is fuzzy with raised grain, will this affect the tone? Or is it just
simply a matter of craftsmanship that the inside should be sanded?

Hard to say, the guitarmaker likes to have everything nice and clean (well, most of them!) and this perhaps helps with sound reflection but also the roughness can pick up dust hence moisture more easily too. Its a luthier thing!

I have a couple guitars, one of which is a Yamaha flamenco, if I feel around
inside of it, it has that feeling you get for example after you have run a damp
cloth over a piece of wood to raise the grain prior to sanding. Actually I can
feel some of the braces feel like they were just sawn, and glued in place
with the rough cut ends still there? :) It is internally a crudely made guitar ...

However it is an amazingly good sounding guitar for the money I paid for it.
Which probably speaks a lot for just the basics of guitar making. That the
design, material, and bracing pattern determine to a large degree the
sound of the guitar. That the fit and finish are important, but if the design
and material are ok, then the guitar should basically sound good.

Actually I noticed it because the guitar is my living room corner guitar, the
one never cased. I noticed in the sound hole dust collecting on the first brace,
and reached in to wipe it off. Then I thought, wow this is completely
unsanded! Hence the question.
