Richard Jernigan -> Flamenco in Madrid, Jerez, Cadiz? (Apr. 3 2007 20:52:40)

It's been more than fifteen years since I traveled to Spain. We will be in Madrid and Cadiz in mid-May. Could anyone recommend good places for flamenco? I would be far more interested in an intimate atmosphere with a great cantaor than touristy choreography with lots of castanets.

Hotel recommendations would also be appreciated. We would stay at the Ritz or Palace in Madrid, but online reviews are not uniformly good. We'd like 5-star standard with an old-world feel, like the two greats mentioned, in their heyday. Big hotel is not required, beautiful, spacious accommodation and good service is desired.

Thanks for any recommendations, most especially for good flamenco--we can probably sort out the hotel situation with on-line resources, but this forum is one of my few hopes for coming up with flamenco recommendations.

Woah!!! thats a great sunset!!! Or is it a sunrise? Man, I wish I lived somewhere nice like the Marshall Islands instead of grey old London! Sorry for the off-topic... I can't be of much help about the rest.

I've been in Jerez on October,
ask for parilla club, I saw there the best flamenco show during my travel,
if you have difficult finding it I can serch the exact address.
Not far from jerez is santa maria puerto,
you can eat very good fish based dishes.
