Phil -> OT Question about spam (Jan. 6 2004 21:24:47)

Recently I've received spam with my name, 'Phil,' in the subject line. Does anyone know how do they do that? My name is not part of my email address, so they have to get it from posts that I sign as 'Phil'. This spam crap is really getting on my nerves.

Phil.[:)] Sorry. I think it was the email I sent to you. IT was supossed to be a joke but I think you didn“t read the message. It is just to say that I am already in Jerez and that I owe you a couple of beers.

On the subject of spam, I think this site would be immune from the net crawling programs that harvest e mail addresses from message boards, although not 100% sure, a safe bet would be to right dot com instead of .com if leaving a personal address.

Melchor,
These were definitely not from you, unless you've changed your address to 'Personal Massager-222051'.

Unless you write your email address in the public areas or in your profile, crawlers cannot get to your email addresses.
