It must be possible to record from a CD onto computer and slow it down in playback. Anyone know of software that can do that? Would be good it kept the original pitch.[:)]

Hi Jim

You can download audacity for free at audacity.com
Record the cd in audacity and you can change pitch, tempo and speed ( which is tempo and pitch at the same time)

There is also the software called "amazing slow downer". It works great but it's not free.

Does anyone have any direct experience with both slowing software AND the Tascam thing? My computer’s kind of a heap and the hard drive is just about maxed out, so I don’t really have room for new programs and cd burning. So I've been curious about that Tascam deal and wondering how it compares to the software slowers in terms of ease of use, functionality, etc. It’s definitely pricier than free software...

Intervideo WinDVD will play any CD or DVD at any speed from 50 to 200 percent of the original speed and restore the original pitch so you can look and playalong if you want.

I'm pretty sure we had a conversation about this five years ago Jim. My computer came with it as standard.

Ive tried them all and TRANSCRBE is the best, trust me you'll be very happy with the software. Best out there

The Tascam unit is outstanding. I have used it for over a year and it works great. I don't like to set in front of a computer to practice and the Tascam fills the bill. All you do is pop in a CD and play it just like any other CD player. I have even striped out the audio of video files and saved it to a CD. You can also burn MP3's to a CD and slow them down.

The audio quality when slowed down is better than The Amazing Slowdowner.

It's a bit expensive, but if it went dead, I'd have another in a day or two.

Also Windows Media Player (hiss) will slow down playback: look under Play menu and Play Speed.

I don't seem to have 'play menu' or at lease I cant find it?
I've got the most up to date version. Strange looking thing with dark colour frame. Headings are - 'Now Playing' 'Library' 'Rip' 'Burn' 'Sync' and then 'Media Guide'[&:]
Help!

Its here under NOW PLAYING. Its some what limited but it works. You can un-check the "snap to" so you can move the slider to a given speed.
