Cat Nap -> Looking for the perfect fit... (Feb. 18 2007 13:50:16)

I have a Cordoba 32E, Classical with a spruce top. Compared to my Lucida 715 cedar top, the Lucida wins for comfort. The Lucida was described as a Classical/Flamenco, if such a thing is possible, but it's lighter than the Cordoba and is more comfortable to play. At some point I'd like to replace the Cordoba for another guitar but I'd like something that fits just as well. Given where I live, there's just nothing in the stores and I really can't afford to travel out of state with my job so I'll be buying online again.

With the Lucida, I really got lucky in a big way; it's absolutely beautiful. Would any Flamenco guitar fit as well or are they the same body size as Classicals?

Forgot to mention, I'm a small adult so it's rather important I find somethign easy to get my arm around. The 32E didn't seem big at the time but the more I play along side my 715, I notice I play the smaller guitar with more ease.

Normally, flamencas are smaller (and lighter) than classicals. To favorize quick response and percussiveness over sustain.
But there are some building schools in Spain with some "big" body flamencas. Like in Madrid, or some builders in Valencia (like Raimundo).

I suppose you'll find lots of guitars with the size of the Lucida. If you must buy online, get the specifications/mesurements of your lucida and compares them to the guitars you're planing to buy. Sometimes it's hard to find all these mesures, but with a lot of searches on the web, you'll probably be able to get an idea...

Suerte !

Are they different scale lengths, or more importantly, are the nut width's the same?

They're probably different. I haven't measured but when I compare them back to back, my 715 is the smaller of the two, if only slightly.

Just asked about the measurements of the Lucida from a guitar shop and was told:

The scale length is 25.75" and the nut size is 2".

What the Hell can I find now? Are there any Flamenco models this measurement or close?
