Hey guys, sorry for the noob question! When restringing the guitar, at the top of the guitar should you put all of the free string through the peg hole, or just enough to hold on to while you tune it up? Thanks!

Ramparts,

This'll learn ya:

I think the D'Addario site also has restringing info available.

If you put the loose wound string end through the bridge the strings will take for ever to streatch into tune. IME best to use the other end. Also, pull them tight through the machines.[;)]

Thanks guys! I followed those instructions (that exact site, actually) and saw the "leave only a little slack" bit, but then the strings (especially the high E) felt really tight and sure enough the high E broke today as I was tuning it! (I strung 2 days ago). Thanks for the reassurance :)
