Hiya all, Ive had this guitar since about Summer last year, I don't know if its me being crap as Im just really starting out, or if the strings I have arent that great for it, but I have to say I'm not sure I'm getting the best out of it. Anybody had any experience of these guitars and care to cast your opinions my way? Be as harsh as you like or as kind to them, Id like an honest outlook. Im away at the monent but when I get home Im going to try out a few different sets of strings and tensions. Any recommendations as to what strings and what tensions produce which sounds? i picked one up in dublin (didnty buy though) just to play it. it cost soemthing like 1800 euros to buy but it i must say i was impressed with the sound and the volume,definitely changes the strings im using hannabach strings on my yamaha flamenco and it has so changed the personality of the guitar its like ive changed guitars, much louder and a brighter tone on the trebles which i wanted.

I have a Raimundo Negra peghead that I was told was a custom order from 1983. I had it refinished (of course, kept the pegs!), and it's a pretty nice little guitar. There is a music store around the corner that sells Raimundo. I walked in one day and they had a blanca (don't know the number) that was like $800 or $900?? Something like that. It was a little cannon, punchy, very Spanish sound, easy to play (I think now I should have grabbed it!)..... 'Factory strung', so you might write and ask what they use?? It just can vary so much from guitar to guitar. My instructor in Spain lives right down from the Barba shop. He walked in one day, and there was a $1500 Student Model on the wall, lacquer-finish...Unbelievable. Said it was better than any of the guitars in there up to $5000. It just happens like that sometimes... I'd just keep trying strings AND HAVE IT 'SET UP' by someone good. It's worth it. Replace anything plastic, etc., and try strings until you get what you like. R

I have a Raimundo 145, and i've made a setup by a luthier, as Ramón recommands it (very important in my opinion). Raimundo is one of the best factory guitar IMO. Not much known, not so big production, and still decent and honest. I must say than mine is sounding rather on the classical side, no matter the strings i use. Very good to play at home, because it has a rather negra character, naturally. But Milonga, don't await a "real blanca sound", with really bright sound as on the old recordings. It's not also a "world class guitar". But I think the main point in your appreciation is still your playing. When I began flamenco, 3-4 years ago, I was really disapointed by the Raimundo, when comparing to recordings. But several months/years after, I really discovered the guitar, just because my playing improved... For sure I like better my Devoe now. But buying the Devoe didn't made me play ten times better. I still don't sound as on the pro recordings... The only good thing is that I was prepared for that in my mind... The LaBella 820 works well on the 145 Raimundo (but are horrible on the Devoe !!).
