			  | Ricardo -> RE: More foot taping questions (farruca, taranto) (Jan. 22 2007 17:16:57) |
			  | It depends how you count it or think of the rhythm. To me, all those rhythms are 2 beat rhythms, or I tap two beats per cycle or compas. Many others count in 4 (taping foot on 1,3), twice the speed I feel it. I like to keep my foot always as a quarter note, so Farruca or Tientos, Tangos, Taranto, is always just ONE & TWO &, my foot on the numbers, 1-2. Rumba too. Tanguillos too.

Farruca chords, E7-Am. Some dancers think of that as 1,2,3,4, on the E7, then 5,6,7,8 on the Am. I think of it as if they are counting 8th notes. So for me it is 1&2&, E7, 1&2&, Am. If I were transcribing, and found the whole piece was "cuadrao", or square, I might fit both chords into a single bar of 4/4, my foot always on the numbered beats.

 Make sense to anyone????
