Anything flamenco? I got a couple of CDs I wanted and a poster of Camaron for my study. I pointed my sister at some Savarez strings and ended up with electric guitar strings and a feedback blocker for a steel acoustic, oh well [;)]

My Dad also bought me Flamenco Fantasy - a fusion with classical music - Beethoven, Mozart etc. I was sceptical and some of it is a bit naff but it's mostly surprisingly easy to listen to.

I particularly like the Moonlight Sonata Rumba and I am being serious. An approachable way into flamenco for the less appreciative.

The Royal Philharmonic, Carles Benavent on bass, Juan Carlos Romero on guitar, Tomasito on palmas and jaleos. Not a bad effort.

I'll post a clip for you when I get home.

I got a nice Brooks Brothers black leather jacket, very light and soft so it can actually be work in Phoenix occasionally. Also 4 tickets to Paco in Tucson in February. A great Christmas!

Florian;

In general I do not like rock. Our son and daughter introduced us to Spinal Tap, and I was thinking about them yesterday (Christmas day). They are so funny! Anyone for 11? Crank it up baby and do not touch the guitar! [:D]

We had our son and daughter over for Christmas. What a great Christmas! One of the best of my life. It is great to be with family at this time.

On the dubious side:

9 for Christmas dinner, a lot of cleaning up after they left, my granddaughters new CD's
played endlesly (Black-eyed Peas, Atomic Kitten etc etc) through the afternoon and my local football team had too much pudding and lost.

On the plus side, a great new CD player, clothes etc and a great evening of rumbas and
Lumumbas after they all went home (-;

Seriously, as Tom says, what would Christmas be without kids and family. As usual, I loved it all (-;

Jim.

Probably the best American comedy save for "The Man With Two Brains" and "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" - love it, love it, love it!

Big in Japan, apparently.[:D]

Thomas !

Nigel -" DOnt Touch it !, that guitar has never been touched ever ! "

BTW - my Xmas CDs were

1. Los Losadas- Pa' llorar de momento. Florian chose this for his Group Tangos prize so I was curious. Good choice, Florian, I love it.

2. Vicente Amigo- Vivencias imaginadas. My teacher in Granada rated this one, I can see why, not too jazzy.

Ron.M -> RE: What did you get in your stocking? (Dec. 27 2003 19:47:52)

I got the CD "The Temperance Seven...The Parlophophone Recordings 1960-62"
This is the first LP I ever bought with my own money when I was 11.
Absolutely fantastic musicians, although basically still semi-pro.
This was the first time I noticed Music as being something other than the transparent background wash I heard on the radio.
I started taking trumpet lessons shortly afterwards to try to emulate my hero Cephas Howard!
That started me listening to and appreciating music.

There were a couple of bands that tried to copy their style afterwards (Bonzo Dog etc), but none in my opinion that ever held a candle to their musicianship.

Some say that "Sgt. Pepper" was inspired by this band, who Lennon & MacCartney saw playing live.
Also the song "When I'm 64".

They disbanded within a few years, since they didn't like the life of the "road" as performers, preferring to remain amateurs.

Interesting to see that the original LP was produced by George Martin!

cheers

Ron
