Hey Florian,

The show was in Washington D.C (home town) With three guest artist, 2 dancers and singer. Did you see Behzad? He was the back up guitarist. His first big show. He did a great job.

Unfortunately, the sound engineer did not seem to have a liking for guitars. He kept the gain down on both mics. Half way through Ricardo's awsome Rondena solo he suddenly just stopped playing out of disgust, and put his guitar back into it's case. The audience gasped as he then reached down and pulled out his electric, fastened his spiked leather bracers, and ran up to the sound booth to crank up the gain to "ear-bleed". He was taken into custody before he could get any thrashing out, and hence is currently unable to respond to your post.

Jason

I actualy fell asleep halfway through the show. And that was my dream. I woke up really freaked out because everybody had gone home.

No, really it was a good show. Ricardo's Rondena kicked ass. Some very crazy Rondena bulerias falsetas. Hopefully (I'm sure Todd has) you'll get a chance to hear it soon. Edwin's dancing is always entertaining. The singer was pretty good too. His voice was more like Miguel Poveda's. Kind of lighter in timbre.

Which show? Last week I was in Pittsburg with Pedro Cortes, Jesus Montoya, Neli Tirado, Edwin, Felix de Lola, etc.

Sunday is what Jason was talking about. The singer was Alfonso Cid. Also we a had a percussionist named Gonzalo Grau. He does lots of different kind of music too, his forte is Latin jazz. He plays piano too. I think he got into flamenco from working with Pedro Cortes and Omayra Amaya. I guess both shows went well. I think I always feel like I could have done better, but I don't like to make excuses either. I liked playing with Pedro, he is a real nice guy, but when you play with him you play ALL his music. I did not play any of my own stuff. Oh, except for my solo of course. Jesus is a real powerhouse gitano singer, I learn so much from him. Alfonso has a "softer, sweeter" vocal style, but is very easy going and fun to work with. He does a lot with dynamics. He sang a Granaina solo that I accompanied.

I often have issues with sound when I am not running it.[&:][:@] There is no point getting mad about it after the fact. But man just a little thing like monitor level can really make you NOT play your best. That feeling of not being in control really can throw you off. I try to ignore it, but sometimes you have the sound guy "adjusting" while you play, as if you don't want dynamics, it is really irritating. Anyway, you just make do with what you have going on.

Ricardo,

Do you have any videos of you playing or any audio clips? I've have read so many positive things about your playing and would love to see or hear it.

Thanks,

Mike

I know the felling, i walked away from 3 shows last weekend(would have been good money , but i just exploded one day and said ' I AM NOT DOING IT[:@], not as bad as it sounds, but i got very very fustrated, there was no room for any of my ideas at all, i just felled like a tape recorder.

SO instead i was lucky enough to pick up another show on the same weekend with another dance school playing along side Alo (its like we can read ecohthers mind, and he is a very considerat player as i try to be also when playing with someone, it fustrates me playing with players that control the compas and hold it by the horns not ever thinking that you might like to take it somewhere else for a change) , I love playing with Alo!! hes such a great player and such a nice guy, and hes very considerate.

the sound in this theatre was incrediblle, they had a Boss system, i dont think i ever enjoyed playing so much in my life 1 because of Alo and 2 because of the sound.
