Another chap was asking questions about accompanying canta'ores and his questions made me recall an observation I'd made while searching for letras and exploring this recordings of canta'ores.
It seem that singers tend to re-use their lyrics and even mix and match in a similar way to guitarists and their falsetas. e.g. Alegrias de Rancapino, I think I've heard the line about staying close to the walls because they arrive at her door in at least 4 distinct songs.
This link has a set of lyrics for pretty much each palo. So I'm curious if anyone recognises any of these letras and can name a song where they're used.
Or maybe you can point out examples of recycled lyrics.
It would be interesting to compare them.
Another thought/question is that if las letras are lyrical phrasings the way guitarists play falsetas, then there should be structure and progressions, no?
And it should be somewhat metered too. How would this kind of meter work and how does compas play into it?
