Romanza -> Tomatito and Michel Camilo in London (Nov. 20 2006 13:57:42)

Did anyone see this concert at the Barbican last wednesday? I quite enjoyed it - not going to write a big review as the music was mostly outside of my knowledge zone. I'm not normally a big piano fan but Michel Camilo is quite an energetic performer and the whole thing wasnt as jazzy as i'd (dare i say) feared! Good to see Tomatito, and they did a rumba of his Paseo de los Castanos album which I admittedly havent listened to properly yet. Camilo interacted with the audience lots although Tomatito was mostly silent - he has a very serene stage presence. Bit boring though! Yes all in all it was good but as always and without wanting to discredit Michel Camilo would have preferred just 'la guitarra'. Unfortunately i was distracted throughout by the most annoying couple in the world sat right at front of me (why book second row tickets if you're going to giggle and whisper in each others ears throughout, look generally bored and oh yes do stretching exercises every two seconds as if limbering up for an olympic bloody event!!?). And no I am NOT exaggerating! (I do hope it was noone on this forum!). In fact I always seem to get these annoying people - at Paco last year some awful woman first of all accused me of sitting in her seat and then I had to listen to her strange moaning noises throughout.
